The other day both of my boys chose two devotionals on the exact same verse, and I could tell the lord was trying to speak to me. I'm always on the lookout for messages from heaven, because I believe the Lord is always looking for ways to speak to us. This was the scripture they both were based on.
Philippians 4:11
I have learned In whatever state I am in to be Content. Paul wrote this when he was in prison and headed for the chopping block, nearing the end of his earthly life. If he could be content in HIS Situation - Surely WE Can Too! I’ve been meditating on another verse along the same lines.
1 Tim 6:6
But Godliness with contentment is great gain.
There are So many reasons we can be Content and thankful. Let’s look for reasons around us everyday. I believe we have many more reasons than we realize. Thankfulness and contentment is a mindset and an intentional habit we form. Either we look for things to be grateful and thankful for, or we wind up getting sucked into the wrong thinking, looking at the glass half empty instead of half full.
There was this one quote that was one of my favorites. It says ‘Two men look out the same bars, one sees the mud and one sees the Stars. Let’s be one who sees the stars. Its a habit we choose to form on purpose and with intention.
We can live content and thankful for So many things, or we can get sucked up into the opposite way of living. But whatever we choose to release out of our mouth and even in our thought life, will affect the quality of our lives greatly. Be a person who looks for reasons to rejoice and to be content and as you do you’ll find the quality of your life has drastically changed for the good.
